(Daytona Beach, Feb. 15, 2010) NASCAR’s Jamie McMurray, driving in his first start for his new team, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, and wearing his Arai auto-racing helmet, won Sunday’s 52nd running of the Daytona 500. It was the team’s first win and McMurray’s first in eight Daytona 500 starts, making him the ninth different winner in the last nine Daytona 500s. And in true it-ain’t-over-till-it’s-over fashion, McMurray led only once in the entire race, for the final two laps, the most important laps. It was the fewest laps led by a Daytona 500 winner ever.

On the Arai front, it wasn’t our first Daytona 500 win, just the most recent. McMurray was wearing a GP-5 model which he’s since upgraded to the new GP-6. Other Arai NASCAR® heroes include Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, and Juan Carlos Montoya.
